Make up is a special occasion thing these days, especially with a baby around. Even so, the search for favorites never truly ends. I have a signature scent, a fave red lipstick and even a killer mascara but eyeshaddows have always evaded me. They’re either not richly pigmented enough for my skin, come in palettes that are too large, complex, pale or unflattering. With all that to contend with I was surprised to find such an amazing colour palette on a random instagram scroll.
I love a lot about kids clothes except for the fact they account for about 70% of my weekly washing. Tutu’s, magic, superheros and cartoons are all perfect but finding things that fit all practical pillars of being durable, affordable, convenient and appropriate can at times be hard to find. When kidswear starts including gold sequin hot pants, kitten heels or highly violent themes, I start to lose interest.
Sometimes killing time comes at a cost. Sometimes Mimco has a sale on and that’s pretty much the same thing. I shopped up a storm for friends but when it came to buying their inferno mini pouche for myself, I just couldn’t make up my mind.
Hair envy is an easy thing. With so many super styled, unimaginably pastel mermaid dreams looking hairstyles out there on social media, it’s easy to want what you don’t have. When I had long colored hair, I longed for the days of chic, short hydrated inky jet black locks. Now that I have wavy LOB length jet black hair, I dream of my long haired days forgetting the dried out bleach bombed nightmare that frizzed at the drop of…well a drop of anything.
Taking up a little corner of Audley st in Petersham, where the grumpy barista used to live; number 110 to be exact, is The Tiny GIANT. A little cafe with a large Instagram following, thanks to its pink fairy floss topped french toast and cronuts. It’s easy to get drawn in by the bombardment of enticing snaps so naturally I wanted to try it out for myself.
