Do people save up for things anymore? Any time I express wanting something, there is always someone nearby suggesting that I jut go out and get it. I have never been a fan of owing people things, least of all money…partly because I have a tendency to forget how much I borrow or loan out. Personal loans are so easy to attain and accountability so low it seems crazy not to purchase the shoes I “deserve” or the new phone I have to have. Continue reading →
I am melting. This statement is a few degrees short of switching from figurative to literal so when I went to seek refuge in the air conditioned beverage laden oasis that is the shopping mall, I was shocked to witness winter clothes being brought in as far as the eye can see. My conclusions can be one of these two options:
I’ve been rediscovering the magical world of Disney through the eyes of my amazing eldest. In fact I had a conversation about the merits of the film Zootopia with 4 adults and I didn’t even bring up the topic. Combine that with the awesomeness that is 101 Dalmatians and most of the princess movies, you’re looking at many years of nostalgia. You’ve seen me rave about the Disney collabs too, because whats better than Disney apparel? Disney collaborating with one of my favourite brands, Lazy Oaf!
Because the latest Heinui campaign reminds me of 90’s pink and blue fete fairy floss, ikea and hiding under doonas (maybe in Ikea), which in my opinion is always a good thing. French fashion designer, Claire Pignot, whose name I’m surely mispronouncing, has a collection that really appeals to my love of chucking on a simple dress that makes you appear more planned and thoughtful.
Shoe collaborations have been letting me down lately so I was trying not to be so fool hardy as to get carried away the next time I heard of a new release and then VANS X TOY STORY happen. For adults of my generation it was a pervasive force in our childhood with it’s huge movie debut and subsequent sequels. It put Pixar on the map in my child brain like nothing but that parent & baby lamp cartoon could. While it’s not like Justin Beiber or Harry Potter when it comes to taking over a life, my son wears Buzz Lightyear PJs having never watched the movie. The fandom is real and somewhere in my brain or my heart, a pilot light is still on waiting for this moment.
