Do people save up for things anymore? Any time I express wanting something, there is always someone nearby suggesting that I jut go out and get it. I have never been a fan of owing people things, least of all money…partly because I have a tendency to forget how much I borrow or loan out. Personal loans are so easy to attain and accountability so low it seems crazy not to purchase the shoes I “deserve” or the new phone I have to have. Continue reading →
I see bag spills on blogs and always wonder where the slightly opened hand cream and fluffy rogue mints are among the lip glosses and sunglasses. Is my bag strange to always contain these items along with a few too many pens, bent business cards and a note book/diary that was once glorious but now a little worn?
The success of my day is often judged not by my bag but what needs to come out of my car at the end. If I struggle to get everything out in one trip from boot to door, I’ve done pretty well. Sometimes it’s suitcases, furniture or home wares. Other times its the more mundane like smart devices and laptops with groceries or kids clothing. My most recent day of success involved pre-fashion week viewings and an epic shopping trip. Any successful day that involves shopping is all the better.
Anyone who knows me, knows I have fluffy objects attached to anything that can be classified as a bag or carry case. It’s a love I share with friends and family alike so it was no surprise when @lpmmags tagged me in @_cassielam‘s photo of her new Sportsgirl bag charm. My first instinct was akin to a pregnant woman looking lustfully at cake (I can say that cos I am said pregnant woman) “I must buy this now!!“. The surprise reaction that followed closely was a quizzical HUH?!
It had only just dawned on me that Sportsgirl had left my window-shopping rotation. I remember a cute and affordable brand that supported my teen trend zombie self with great affection but lately everything is priced at over $100 without, in my humble opinion, the tailoring or quality to support it. When did it become high street?
Thankfully this instagram ping turned into a treasure hunt and I rekindled the magic of my previous love while staring at the kick-ass-edness of some of their accessories. Thosecutepins must simply be mine. Should I pass the wine coloured cord pinafore on offer and deem it to be both made of substantial fabric that can contain my burgeoning bump, it too may find itself on the front counter next to my exhausted credit card. This is what I call nostalgic impulse shopping.
For years, I’ve been a devotee ever since my discovery of UK brand Lazy Oaf on Asos. It’s overflowed here with the release of their Garfield collaboration and now I have exciting news: Lazy Oaf is popping up down under! During 27th Nov to 13th Dec, Lazy Oaf will be squatting at 17 Oxford Street, Sydney in the former ASSIN store.
For three weeks you will great free reign over all their collections, all of which I would love for Christmas…or I guess you could be sane and buy something for someone you actually know, like yourself. Lazy Oaf may be too hot for Santa to handle.
Their range is superb both for men and women and tend to feature crudely drawn food, bold text, and iconic characters. The strange mix of power-puff cute, cooler than ice, batsh*t crazy is just something that resonates with me.They keep offering me spooky eyes, 80’s advertising and mickey mouse white gloves and I keep lapping it up. If you too love a little sunshine and quirky in your wardrobe, I would definitely recommend a look in before all the best pieces disappear.
We love a good market day. There’s something geekishly fantastic about buying a bag full of apples, food out of a truck and home decor that has been made with the skill I imagine I have but do not actually posses (more about that later). Until we find a local famer’s market , this is a full days adventure where we spend too much of our money, no men allowed. Standard smiley sister shot taken, now it’s time to stuff our faces.
Obviously the best way to start the day is with a hearty breakfast from all the food groups that matter: caffeine and sugar from St Germain’s. For those of you who are uncomfortable with this, lets call it dairy and fruit? After that is was all frolics, florals, walking and limited bathroom breaks.
At the end of this particular day at Finders Keepers, we walked away with a photo that will probably haunt the kidlet for the rest of his life (see above), space themed temporary tatts, a lunar calendar tote bag, a pretty white wire basket and full tummies. A short walk to a near by florist and 3 bunches of flowers later it was time to go back home. Exhausted but all worth the trek.
